Remembering Matthew

It's late and without an update here on caringbridge we know it is evident that you all are aware of Mathew's passing today. We are so sad. At 11:50am, Mathew accepted a new life, pain free, and free to do anything. God is watching over him and watching as he plays with his friends who have been waiting to see him. It was beautiful to see Karen hold, rock, and hold on to Mathew after his passing. Our family time was & is special. As a father, I have been blessed, lucky, and thankful that I have been with Mathew, Karen, & Andrew 24/7 during the last 4 months of very aggressive treatment and all of the set backs, relapse, and the difficult decisions we have had to make. Ultimately, quality of life was what we wanted for Mathew and we accepted his quality of life remaining. Pursuing to ditch the last severely aggressive treatment option for him? why? Smiles, love, and time we had were more important than pushing Mathew through something that he would not make it through. We appreciate the love, support, and prayers over the last 3 years.... We all will miss Mathew. > > > Gliddon Family

Matthew Gliddon, a little boy that our family had been praying for passed all too soon in life from cancer. He was only five years old. We want to remember him and his family during this time of grief. Please help us pray for peace to flourish in their hearts. I wrote a short poem
for Matthew.
Running and jumping with friends; imaginary or real
that's the role of a five year old boy.
Dreams of flying with the birds or swimming with fish
carefree and life blushing, full of joy.
You may not have had all that life could present
while you stayed your short time around here.
But we rejoice because we know in our hearts,
you are know in a place with absolutley no fear.
No more hospitals or needles, pain or greif
only perfect and beautiful things touch you now.
And you only remember the best of your life
your mother and father, family and somehow
we know we will see you again, and very soon -
when the Lord's timing is just right.
We will walk to the throneroom and see on the side
it's Matthew, standing in HIS light.
And while we rejoice in your new found love,
we will still miss you very very much.
You taught us how to live for the moment
and our hearts were changed by your touch.
We thank God for Matthew.
